Title: | Salvage | Summary: | Salvage bricks and weapons to make your own forts and fight! | Author: | DrenDran | Submitted By: | HansonBot | Date Submitted: | Sat Mar 26, 2011 11:37 pm | Description: | A rather straight forward gamemode, you use the "salvage" tool to hit bricks until their health is depleted, then they are added to your inventory. From your inventory you can place these bricks like normal. Bricks retain their datablock (shape/size), color, and any items they might spawn. These items can be picked up and used to defend your fort. There is also a "repair" item which can repair bricks. It also includes a "basher" item which can do three times the damage of the normal "Salvage" tool. Type "/drop" to drop your current selected brick item. You lose brick items on death. Some bricks, that the host has named "static" may be invulnerable.
To host this, simply put it in your add-ons folder, it will automatically run if you have it, to host it 'well' you should load a build with plenty of weapon spawns, player spawns, and a variety of other bricks, and also set a default and dedicated minigame, which spawns players with a printer and the salvage tool. While hosting with this add-on, it will look like everyone has full trust with everyone, this is just to let the game work at its best, this trust is not real, and will not affect play on any other server, and will even go back to normal as soon as you stop using the mod. While running the mod disables undo, wand, normal paint color and brick selecting function, and the personal clearbricks command. The host may type "/salvagebypass" to go into bypass/cheat mode to build and paint things.
As of updates, there are now events for when a repair tool, salvage tool, or basher tool, hits a brick, respectively. These only trigger if the event does not destroy the brick. Bricks now also retain lights, emitters and emitter directions completely, and they retain events, including up to two, but only two currently, output parameters (a three field velocity counts as just one parameter) though the inventory, but not though the process of being dropped and picked up, yet. Now you need to type "/startsalvage" in game to enable the mod. | |
